e’re proud to be #1 on TripAdvisor. That doesn’t mean we’re the fanciest hotel. But part of the reason is definitely those beautiful water views but more importantly, we care. We care about our guests and each other. We remember and embrace the term, “Team work makes the dream work.”

Our Story and Philosophy

The Executive Inn & Suites was built in 1991 and expanded to a second building in 2003 (the second building was later changed to our sister hotel, Best Western Plus Bayside Hotel). We now work in tandem with our sister hotel next door, which is #2 on TripAdvisor.

Our hotels share a parking lot, swimming pool, Lounge and in many ways crossover team members. We’re family owned so we work as a family, caring about each other’s well being and feeling part of something that is greater than ourselves. That may be why some people have worked here over 30 years. We’ve even have several employees leave for corporate America, only to return because they like it here better. We feel this family environment keeps people happy and when they’re happy, that make better employees and better at serving you.

We truly can’t make the dream work if we don’t have the team work.

Our Approach

We are committed to give you the best value for your dollar. Sometimes rooms are more expensive because there might be a big concert in town or convention, causing us to be sold out. But we try to keep our rates fair and reasonable. We often use this rate strategy to try and capture new business because we’re one of the few independent hotels in a sea of big chains and brands with their loyal followers.

Stayed at the Executive Inn and Suites for well over a year on a weekly basis and I never had a bad experience!

The entire staff of the Executive Inn and Suites were engaging and attentive to all the guests during my visits there. Staff are amazing, both at the desk, in hotel services, and in the bar/restaurant areas. The staff at the front desk always greeting me with a warm smile and called me by name. They provided me with information about shuttle services and restaurants anytime I asked. They also operate the shuttle service to and from the airport and other area businesses. In the maintenance and hotel services staff, if something was amiss in my room, they were prompt to address the issue. If I needed anything special, they were always responsive. And the staff in the bar/restaurant areas were a delight. They always greeted me with a warm and friendly smile. They even graciously addressed my special dietary issues. They made me feel like family, whether I sat at a table with a laptop working or sitting quietly in the bar area. I feel like I'm leaving family!!!

I experienced both the pre- and post-remodeling of the facility and it's very glamorous and comfortable. I was comfortable in the pre-remodeled facility, but it was a delight when the rooms were remodeled. The facilities were updated and are quite stylish and comfortable. I was fortunate to have a waterfront room, and the view was amazing! I took advantage of the pool and hot tub and again was quite pleased. I even used the workout area facilities. I was very satisfied with the physical property; even the outside area was well groomed and well maintained.

I led a team of 5 others and we all stayed at the Executive Inn and Suites - we had a delightful experience there and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. I recommend the Executive Inn and Suites without hesitation.

"We stayed at the Executive Inn for 4 nights, as it was recommended by our friend who was hosting a number of events over an extended weekend. There was a mix-up (or a misstep) upon our arrival - the room we booked was not available even though I had booked it way in advance, given a deposit, reconfirmed the night before, and alerted them that we'd be arriving from the airport late.

There was no indication that we wouldn't be getting the Deluxe King Waterview room. In any case, the staff remained professional and did everything they could to get us to the correct room the next day. (The other King room they gave us for the first night was still water view but it was smaller and didn't have a solid wall between the bedroom and bathroom vanity area - not ideal.)

After that minor glitch, our stay went very well. All the staff, including manager Miguel T and various other employees, were welcoming, very accommodating and gracious. (By the way, when we called down to the front desk to get the internet code that first night, personnel who answered the phone seemed to know about our situation and apologized again, assuring us that things would be taken care of first thing when the manager arrived. Nice touch.) I'd read TA reviews about the staff and I was very glad that those glowing reviews were true!

Since the property is in the middle of renovations, I do hope they consider upgrading their so-called gym. It was a very small room with a treadmill, I think a bike, and multi-purpose machine. I couldn't imagine trying to work out with another person in the room - it was just too small with limited equipment and would get stuffy quickly.

Otherwise, the hotel was a good choice due to its courteous staff, fine breakfast, free Internet, and pretty water view. I would stay here again when I'm next in the area."

"This was an amazing stay-for us. The hotel staff was amazing and helpful, especially the shuttle service. with this being our first stay in Oakland, the shuttle staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The value was awesome and enjoyed the free breakfast buffet, and view. We will book again next year!!"

Can I wait for my ride or check-in time in the lobby?

Absolutely! Our lobby is spacious with books, a TV and plenty of places for you to relax. We even have a station where you can charge your phone and other devices. Feel free to also relax on the patio and enjoy the beautiful water view.

What time is check-in time?

Our check-in time is 3pm. Of course, if your room is ready, we’d be happy to check you in early – but no guarantees. Give us a call at (510) 536-6633 to see if we can squeeze you in early.

Our check-out time is at 11am. If you need a little extra time, check with the front desk about how long you can have before we need to charge you for a late check-out.

Do you allow pets?

As much as we love our furry friends, we ask that you either leave them at home with a pet sitter or accommodate them at Oakland Wag Hotel. Any undeclared pets may result in a fine of $250. Registered and training service animals are, of course, allowed. We highly encourage service animal owners to be on the 1st floor of our hotel, as it's more convenient for the animal's relief. NOTE: The service animal must not be unattended in our rooms. The service animal must go where ever the owner goes.

Do you have Park-N-Fly?

In terms of a great rate to stay and park your car here while you fly out? Yes - we do offer up to 10-days of parking in the Park-N-Fly rate. However, we no longer offer transportation to/from Oakland International Airport. You will need to find means of transportation - such as a taxi, UBER/LYFT, BART, etc.

What is your child policy?

Children 17 and under stay free with one paying adult/guardian. Primary guest in room must be 18 years of age or older?

Do you accept prepaid cards?

We accept major credit cards only: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover & Diner Club. All credit card provided at check-in time are required to be EMV enabled (chipped). Any credit card that is not equipped with a chip will not be accepted. We also do not accept any prepaid debit or credit cards (For example: American Express Serve, Green Dot, NetSpend, etc.). NOTE: As debit cards (with a credit card logo) may be accepted, we suggest using a major credit card instead. Settlements/release of deposit funds process much quicker on credit cards than debit cards, and credit cards sometimes offer better travel protection.

Do you take deposits at check-in time?

Each reservation requires a $100 incidental hold (or deposit) that is to be placed on the credit card on file for the duration of the reservation. At the time of check out, if no incidentals were posted to the room, then the $100 hold is returned to the credit card on file. NOTE: It may take 3 to 5 business days for the funds to reflect on your statement for credit cards or 5 to 10 business days for debit cards. This varies with different banks and the time period is really up to the bank.

What is your cancellation policy?

Standard cancellations must be made by 3 p.m. PST, 24-hours prior to arrival in order to avoid a one night cancellation fee, plus tax. Some groups and corporate accounts may vary – so please check with group organizer for negotiated cancellation policies. Further, some rates are based upon prepayment/no cancellation so please check the policy before booking.

What is your no show policy?

Guest that no-show for their reservations prevent the hotel from selling the room. Therefore, reservations that no-show will be charged for one-nights room and tax to the credit card provided at time of booking.

Can I cancel a prepaid booking?

Prepaid bookings are non-cancellable and non-refundable. Credit card provided at time of booking will be charged anytime after the booking is made. If the credit card declines, the reservation will be forfeited.

Can I make a special request?

Any special requests, including room type changes, cannot be guaranteed and will be honored based on availability at check-in.

However, it doesn't hurt to ask! Once you arrive, let us know how we can make your stay with us extra special.

What’s in your continental breakfast?

Ours is deluxe level and complimentary. You get the usual continental items such as muffins, granola bars, juices and coffee. But we also provide hard boiled eggs, yogurts, cottage cheese, hot breakfast sandwiches, coffee, tea and juices.

Do you have a restaurant?

We like to call it The Lounge. Perfect place to gather with friends for cocktails and soft drinks. We also serve a popular Steak or Salmon dinner, grilled to order and served with mashed potatoes and a side salad. Our prep kitchen isn’t big enough to make anything else – so we perfected this dish.

We are a 100% Non-Smoking hotel, and violation of this simple policy may result in hefty fines, starting at $250. Smoking on the balcony or patio is not allowed, as it's still considered part of the hotel. California law states 20-feet from any exit or window. Please don't break the law.

We also don't allow vaping, incenses, candles or anything with an open flame.

Do you allow parties in your rooms?

We do not allow any parties. Our mission statement is: "Provide an enjoyable experience for all of  our guests.” It is impossible for our guests to enjoy their time with us if another guest and their friends are partying and making noise next door or down the hall. If a party is suspected, we will ask all 'non-registered' guest to vacate the room, and the 'registered' guest may be fined $250. Let's be kind to our fellow guests, and don't party. Besides, Oakland has a lot of great places to party at!

What's the tax rate for staying at the hotel?

Your room rate does not include taxes - as taxes are generally added after the fact. The tax rate for guest rooms is: 14% of room rate | Oakland TBID Tax: $1.50 per night, per room | California Tourism Tax: 0.195% of room rate. NOTE: These taxes and fees are subject to change without notice. Every guest is responsible to pay taxes on their reservation unless they qualify for tax-exempt and bring with them the proper exempt form.

Is the neighborhood safe?

There is a committee who has worked to keep our area safe from harm and crime but it seems crime is an opportunity and not a neighborhood. So it’s always best advised EVERYWHERE YOU TRAVEL to take belongings or anything of interest in your car into the hotel.

Can we swim in the Estuary?

No - we do not suggest swimming in the water behind our hotel. However, you can rent kayaks at Brooklyn Basin to experience being on the water.

Do note: you could end up on TikTok if you aren’t an expert on the water as we have seen many times the Coast Guard come save people who get trapped on the water.

Can we feed the geese?

We do not suggest feeding any wildlife. They find enough food on their own - like our flowers! But if you feed them, they may get overly aggressive and no longer seem cute.

Where’s the closest shopping mall?

Oakland isn’t really known for malls. If you need the mall experience, there’s one in the neighboring cities of San Leandro and Alameda. Oakland does have some unique Oakland only stores that can be found at Jack London Square, the downtown Hive, Temescal Alley and downtown Oakland.

We are located about 7 miles away – we’re closer to OAK than San Francisco is to SFO.

We will make every attempt to return lost property. Please call the hotel directly to report a lost item at 510-536-6633.

Is there free parking?

No, but our $15 a day is the best deal in Oakland. There is street parking that is free – perfect for tour, school and band buses.

How far are you from Oakland International Airport?

Can I send a package to the hotel?

Yes! Package handling is usually free while there is an existing reservation or meeting. If you're already checked in, we will reach out to you to let you know you've received something. If you have many packages, large heavy boxes and/or need to have them held at the hotel for a long period of time, please consult with the hotel about possible storage and handling fees.

Do you offer luggage storage?

Luggage storage is available through the Front Desk at no additional charge for current registered guests of the hotel.
