If there’s one more thing you must know, the nightlife here in the town is vibrant and alive. There are so many things to do in Oakland at night, and we’ve rounded up the best of the best for you. Whether you’re looking for a night of clubbing or alcohol-free fun, here’s your guide to the best things to do on your nights in Oakland:
Located just 8 minutes from Executive Inn & Suites you can’t go wrong visiting one of the hippest theaters around. Whether it’s grabbing a snack from their cafe or taking in one of their new releases or cult classics, this spot is not one to be missed! Sit back and relax while you enjoy your movie in one of their two large screening rooms fully furnished with loveseats, reclaimed vintage chairs, and other unique seating. If your looking to have a date night or a night out with friends don’t forget they also host Trivia Thursdays! You won’t want to miss everything The Parkway Theater had to offer.
The Fox Theater in Oakland was originally opened as the Oakland Theater in 1928. After a nearly 40-year closure, it was renovated in 2009 and is now a concert venue that hosts big-name touring acts. It also has an art deco interior, so be ready to be mesmerized by how gorgeous the place is! If you’re in town when a show is happening, snag a ticket and enjoy an evening of live music. The theater is only about three miles from the hotel, so there’s no worries about getting there!
About two miles from the hotel, you’ll find a Black- and Latina-owned restaurant called Oeste Bar. What’s so special about it? Well, it has an incredible view of downtown Oakland and is the perfect spot for a romantic dinner or night out with friends! The food is fantastic, too. If you’re in the mood for good food with an even better view, make your way to a rooftop dinner at Oeste Bar.
Stargazing never gets old as a night activity, and Chabot Space and Science Center is the perfect place to do it in Oakland. It’s an interactive museum with a planetarium and observatory, so you can learn about space and get a great view of the stars! The center is only about 6.6 miles from Executive Inn & Suites, so it’s a great option if you’re looking for something nearby.
If there’s one perfect Oakland activity, it’s First Fridays. This event happens on the first Friday of every month and is a celebration of the city’s art, culture, and food. Local vendors set up shop, and there’s live music or entertainment everywhere. It’s the perfect way to get a taste of Oakland’s vibrant culture! The celebration takes place on Telegraph Ave, around seven miles from the hotel.
Another movie night? Make it a “vintage” movie night! Head to Grand Lake Theater, about three miles from Executive Inn & Suites, and spend hours in an Art Deco movie theater that’s been around since the 1920s. It occasionally shows classic, cult, and independent films, so you’re sure to find something you’ll enjoy. Plus, the theater is beautiful inside and out, so it’s worth a visit even if you don’t watch a movie!
If you’re up for some unusual fun with your friends or family, try your hand at Escape Oakland. The famous escape room offers a variety of different themed rooms for you to choose from, and you have limited time to solve the puzzles and “escape” the room. It’s a great way to test your problem-solving skills and bond with your group! The escape room is about 2.5 miles from the hotel.
More games? Oakland has got your back! Trivium Games — which is about six miles from the hotel — is another escape room in town where you can unleash your inner detective. The award-winning 90-minute escape room has an immersive adventure for 4-8 players. You will really have to use your wit and teamwork to solve the puzzles as the Ghost Patrol!
Of course, you must not miss out on Oakland’s nightlife scene! Oakland has plenty of bars and clubs, so you can go out and party the night away. Some of the best bars include Make Westing and Lounge 3411. Oakland also has Heart and Dagger, a biker bar perfect for all lovers of rock and roll. Oakland is very much alive at night, so be sure to experience it yourself!
Sunsets and the Aloha Club go hand in hand. The place is known for its beautiful setting and amazing cocktails. If you’d love to dance and drink a little at a sunset moment, the Aloha Club is where you should be. It’s around two miles from the hotel, and it’s easy to get there right before the sun goes down. Remember, you have to be there before the sunset to live that beautiful experience!
Lastly, take a stroll around Bay Bridge. It’s one of the most iconic landmarks in Oakland and is absolutely stunning at night. You can schedule this on your last night in town to reminisce on all the wonderful memories you’ve made during your stay. The Bay Bridge is about eight miles from Executive Inn & Suites, so it’s best to plan ahead to make the most of your time!
